Abstract
과학과 컴퓨터기술의 발전은 우리의 생활을 풍요롭게 변화시키고 있으며, 치의학 분야 또한 이러한 발전에 힘입어 학문적 깊이와 넓이를 더해가고 있다.
두부방사선계측사진의 분석을 위시한 치과교정학 분야에도 이미 오래 전부터 컴퓨터가 도입, 이용되어왔으며, 디지털 방사선사진, 3차원 영상처리기술 등 최신 컴퓨터 응용기법을 이용한 연구들이 임상 및 기초 치과교정학의 새로운 한 분야를 이루게 되었다.
환자 진료의 현장인 임상 교정 분야에서는 컴퓨터와 네트웍, 디지털 기술을 도입하여 보다 빠른 자료의 분석, 정확한 진단 및 치료계획 수립, 원격 진료 및 협진, Invisalign과 같은 치료 술식 등 여러 분야에서 도움을 얻고 있다.
본 논문에서는 임상교정에서 활용되는 디지털 방사선사진에 대한 최신 경향과, 이론적 배경, 실제 임상에서의 응용, 주의 사항, 장단점 등에 대하여 살펴보고, 규모에 따른 디지털 교정치과 시스템의 구축 실례를 비교 분석하여 보다 쉽게 최신 기술을 적용할 수 있는 방안을 모색하고자 한다.
Digital radiography is being rapidly adopted in the field of diagnostic radiology because of its distinctive advantages over film radiography, such as reduced radiation exposure, decreased working time, applicability of image enhancement, less space needed for storage, electronic transmission, chemical-free processing and so on. The use of digital radiography technology in orthodontics is also getting popular.
The current digital radiographic technologies available in orthodontics are broadly categorized into CR(Computed Radiography) which uses imaging plate as an alternative for film cassette, and DR(Digital Radiography) which can directly acquire images. Besides, there are film scanning and state-of-the-art technologies employing flat panel detectors. The most common method in current cephalometric DR is the one with CCD sensor complex and it is divided into one shot record and slit beam scan technique. These individual technologies have their own unique characteristics. To be helpful in selection and application of the digital radiographic equipment in orthodontics, the authors described the basic principle of the technologies and suggested the method of system integration.
